Travel insurance, for peace of mind.
A hospital bill abroad can cost more than the whole holiday. We arrange policies from insurers licensed by IRDAI, matched to your destination, age and activities.
When it is required
- Schengen countries: mandatory for the visa. The policy must cover at least €30,000 for medical emergencies and repatriation, valid across the Schengen area for your whole stay.
- Other countries: not always required, but strongly recommended. Some cruise lines and tour operators also ask for it.
What a good policy covers
Hospitalisation, treatment and medicines abroad, ideally with cashless hospitals.
Emergency transport to the nearest suitable hospital, or home.
Non-refundable costs if you have to cancel for a covered reason, and allowances for long delays.
Lost or delayed checked baggage, and help if your passport is lost.
If you accidentally injure someone or damage property.
A helpline that speaks your language and can guide you to a doctor or hospital.
Check before you buy
- Pre-existing conditions: declare them honestly. Undeclared conditions are the most common reason claims are rejected.
- Senior travellers: premiums and cover change with age bands, usually from 60 and again from 70.
- Adventure activities: skiing, scuba diving, bungy jumping and trekking are often excluded unless you add them.
- High altitude and pilgrimages: for Char Dham, Ladakh and Sikkim, check that the policy covers altitude sickness, treks and helicopter rides.
- Sum insured: choose higher cover for the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe, where treatment is expensive.
If you need to claim
- Call the insurer's helpline before treatment where possible, so they can arrange a cashless hospital.
- Keep all bills, prescriptions and medical reports.
- For lost baggage, get a Property Irregularity Report from the airline before leaving the airport.
- For theft, file a police report within 24 hours.
- Tell us too. Our team helps you with the paperwork.
