1. Day 1 Lucerne

   Arrive Zurich, train to Lucerne.

   Welcome to Switzerland. Indian travellers need a Schengen visa, which our team helps you file. On arrival at Zurich airport, collect your Swiss Travel Pass, which covers trains, boats, buses and city transport across the country for six days. Take the train to Lucerne, about one hour, and check in. In the afternoon, walk across the wooden Chapel Bridge, see the Lion Monument and wander through the painted houses of the Old Town by the lake. Swiss trains run exactly on time. Overnight in Lucerne.

2. Day 2 Lucerne

   Mt Titlis and Lake Lucerne cruise.

   Travel by train to Engelberg, about 45 minutes, and ride the cable cars up Mount Titlis, including the Rotair, which turns as it climbs to about 3,020 metres. Walk across the Titlis Cliff Walk, a suspension bridge over the abyss, and visit the glacier cave. The Swiss Travel Pass gives a discount on the Titlis cable cars. In the afternoon, enjoy a cruise on Lake Lucerne, included in your pass, with mountain views. Carry warm layers and sunglasses for the snow. Overnight in Lucerne.

3. Day 3 Interlaken

   Scenic rail to Interlaken.

   Board the scenic train from Lucerne to Interlaken, about two hours, over the Brünig Pass, past lakes, waterfalls and alpine meadows, one of the prettiest rail journeys in Switzerland. Interlaken sits between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, with views of the Jungfrau. Check in and spend the afternoon at leisure, perhaps on a boat on Lake Brienz or riding the funicular up Harder Kulm for sunset views. Sit on the left-hand side for the best lake views, and keep your Swiss Travel Pass ready for ticket checks. Overnight in Interlaken.

4. Day 4 Interlaken

   Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe.

   A day trip to the Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe, at 3,454 metres, the highest railway station in Europe. Travel by train and the Eiger Express gondola, then the cogwheel train through a tunnel inside the Eiger and Mönch. At the top, visit the Ice Palace and the Sphinx terrace with views of the Aletsch Glacier. The Swiss Travel Pass gives a discount on this trip, with the balance payable. Move slowly in the thin air. Carry sunglasses for the glare. Overnight in Interlaken.

5. Day 5 Zurich

   Train to Zurich, city and lake.

   Take the train from Interlaken to Zurich, about two hours, via Bern, the Swiss capital, where you can stop to see the old town and the clock tower if you like. In Zurich, walk along the Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world's most famous shopping streets, and the old town lanes by the river Limmat. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Zurich, included in your pass, and shop for Swiss chocolates and watches. Zurich is expensive, so lakeside picnics are a good idea. Overnight in Zurich.

6. Day 6 Zurich

   Rhine Falls, departure.

   After breakfast, visit the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen, about 45 minutes from Zurich by train, the largest waterfall in Europe by volume. Take a short boat ride close to the falls for spray and photographs. Then return to Zurich and transfer to the airport for your flight home. Please reach three hours before departure and claim VAT refunds on eligible purchases. Keep your Swiss Travel Pass handy until the end.
