1. Day 1 Delhi

   Evening Volvo bus to Lucknow.

   In the evening, board your AC Volvo or similar bus from Delhi for the overnight journey to Lucknow, about 550 km and nine to ten hours on the expressway. Lucknow is the city of the Nawabs, famous for its grand architecture, refined manners and some of the best food in India. Carry a light shawl, water and snacks, and keep your ticket and ID handy. Try to sleep well on the bus. Bus timings are confirmed with your booking. Overnight on the bus.

2. Day 2 Lucknow

   Imambaras, Rumi Darwaza, Hazratganj.

   Arrive in Lucknow in the morning and transfer to your 3-star hotel to freshen up. Visit the Bara Imambara, built in 1784, with its huge vaulted hall and the Bhool Bhulaiya maze, and the Rumi Darwaza, a grand gateway. See the Chhota Imambara, with its chandeliers, and the clock tower nearby. In the evening, stroll through Hazratganj and try kebabs and biryani in Aminabad or Chowk. A licensed guide is recommended at the Bhool Bhulaiya, which has over 1,000 passages. Overnight in Lucknow.

3. Day 3 Lucknow

   Residency, Ambedkar Park, bus back.

   After breakfast, visit the Residency, the ruins of the British compound besieged during the 1857 uprising, with bullet marks still on its walls. Then see the Ambedkar Memorial Park, a vast monument of red sandstone. Shop for chikankari embroidery, Lucknow's famous handwork. In the evening, board the bus back to Delhi, arriving the next morning. Before leaving, try the famous Tunday kebabs, makhan malai in winter, or Lucknowi chaat at the old markets.
