Day by day

  1. Day 1 London

    Arrive, check in.

Welcome to London. Indian travellers need a UK visa, and an Irish visa for Dublin, or a UK visa endorsed under the British Irish Visa Scheme. Our team helps you apply. After landing, our representative meets you for the transfer to your hotel. Check in and rest. In the evening, if you have energy, take the Tube into central London to see the city lights. Winter days are short and often rainy, so carry a warm coat and umbrella. Overnight in London.

  2. Day 2 London

Westminster and the City, West End walk.

A guided tour of London's icons. See the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, then drive through the City of London past St Paul's Cathedral to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge on the Thames. In the evening, enjoy a walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown and Soho, with theatres, lights and restaurants, and the Christmas decorations of Regent Street in season. Changing of the Guard takes place at Buckingham Palace on set days. Overnight in London.

  3. Day 3 London

    Free day in London.

A free day to explore London at your own pace. Visit the British Museum or the Natural History Museum, both free to enter, ride the London Eye, or shop on Oxford Street and at Harrods. Families may enjoy the Harry Potter studio tour or Madame Tussauds, at extra cost and booked in advance. In the evening, watch a West End musical. Use a contactless card on the Tube and buses. Afternoon tea is a classic London experience worth trying. Overnight in London.

  4. Day 4 Durham

Cambridge and York, on to Durham.

Drive north to Cambridge, the historic university town, and see the colleges, including King's College Chapel, along the river Cam. Continue to York, a walled city with the great Gothic York Minster and the Shambles, a crooked medieval street said to have inspired Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. Arrive in Durham by evening, a small city with a magnificent cathedral and castle above the river. The coach makes short comfort breaks on the way, and your tour manager shares stories of each town. Overnight in Durham.

  5. Day 5 Edinburgh

    Alnwick, Edinburgh city tour.

Drive north along the Northumberland coast to Alnwick, whose castle appeared in the Harry Potter films. Cross into Scotland and arrive in Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. Enjoy a guided city tour with a local guide, seeing Edinburgh Castle on its volcanic rock, the Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. In December, the city glows with Christmas markets and lights. Edinburgh is hilly and windy, so wear good shoes and a warm coat. Try Scottish shortbread or a warm bowl of soup at a cafe on the Royal Mile. Overnight in Edinburgh.

  6. Day 6 Glasgow

    Highlands and Loch Ness.

A full day in the Scottish Highlands. Drive north through the mountains to Pitlochry, a pretty Victorian town, and on to Inverness. Take a boat ride on Loch Ness, the deep, dark lake of the Loch Ness Monster legend, and see the ruins of Urquhart Castle on its shore. Then drive south-west through the Highlands to Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, arriving in the evening. It is a long but beautiful day. Highland weather changes quickly, so carry a waterproof jacket. Overnight in Glasgow.

  7. Day 7 Dublin

Ferry to Belfast, on to Dublin.

Drive to Cairnryan and take the ferry across the Irish Sea to Belfast in Northern Ireland, a crossing of a little over two hours. See Belfast's city hall and the Titanic Quarter, where the famous ship was built. Continue south across the border into the Republic of Ireland and arrive in Dublin by evening. Walk through Temple Bar, a lively area of pubs, live music and cobbled streets. Ireland uses the euro while Northern Ireland uses the pound, so carry a card. Overnight in Dublin.

  8. Day 8 Dublin

    Dublin city tour.

A panoramic tour of Dublin, Ireland's friendly capital. See Trinity College, home of the Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated ninth-century manuscript, St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle and the Georgian squares with colourful doors. The afternoon is free to visit the Guinness Storehouse, shop on Grafton Street or relax by the River Liffey. Enjoy a farewell dinner with the group. Dublin is compact and easy to explore on foot, and the River Liffey is crossed by many bridges, including the Ha'penny Bridge. Overnight in Dublin.

  9. Day 9 Dublin

    Departure.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and say goodbye to your tour manager and fellow travellers. Our representative transfers you to Dublin airport for your flight home. Please reach three hours before departure. Pick up Irish chocolates, tea or woollen scarves as gifts. Keep your passport and Irish visa together for the airport checks, and pack your gifts carefully in checked baggage. Your journey through England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland ends here, with memories of castles, lochs and warm winter welcomes.
