Day by day

Day 1 Delhi
Arrive, check in.
Arrive in Delhi, India's capital, where our representative meets you at the airport or railway station and transfers you to your hotel. Delhi is a city of two faces, the old Mughal capital and the planned British-era New Delhi. After check-in, rest or take an evening walk around Connaught Place with its colonnaded shops and restaurants. Try Delhi's famous street food, such as chole bhature or parathas. Delhi traffic can be heavy, so allow extra time for every drive. Overnight in Delhi.
-
Day 2 Delhi
Old and New Delhi tour.
After breakfast, tour Old and New Delhi. Visit the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, take a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, and pass the Red Fort. See Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. In the afternoon, drive past India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House, then visit Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar, both UNESCO sites. Entry fees are extra at all monuments, and the Red Fort and some museums are closed on Mondays. Overnight in Delhi.
-
Day 3 Agra
Drive to Agra, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
After breakfast, drive to Agra, about 230 km and three to four hours on the expressway. Visit the Taj Mahal, the white marble mausoleum built by Shah Jahan for Mumtaz Mahal, one of the wonders of the world. It is closed on Fridays. Then see Agra Fort, a UNESCO site of red sandstone, and Itmad-ud-Daulah, called the Baby Taj, with fine inlay work. Visit at sunrise or late afternoon for the softest light on the white marble. Overnight in Agra.
-
Day 4 Jaipur
Fatehpur Sikri, on to Jaipur.
After breakfast, drive towards Jaipur, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar, with the Buland Darwaza and the tomb of Salim Chishti, where visitors tie threads for wishes. Continue to Jaipur, about 240 km in total, arriving by late afternoon. In the evening, explore the bazaars of the Pink City. Fatehpur Sikri was abandoned soon after it was built, probably because of a shortage of water, and is now a UNESCO site. Overnight in Jaipur.
-
Day 5 Jaipur
Amber Fort and the Pink City.
After breakfast, visit Amber Fort, about 11 km from the city, a hilltop palace with the Sheesh Mahal of mirrors. Stop for photos at Jal Mahal. Then explore the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO-listed observatory, and the Hawa Mahal with its 953 windows. Elephant and jeep rides at Amber are at extra cost. Shop for gems, blue pottery and textiles. We recommend reaching Amber early, before the crowds and the midday heat arrive. Shops near the old city gates sell fine Jaipur quilts. Overnight in Jaipur.
-
Day 6 Jaipur
Departure.
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. Depending on your flight or train time, enjoy some last shopping in Jaipur. Our representative transfers you to Jaipur airport or railway station for your onward journey. If you are returning to Delhi by road, ask us for a transfer. Jaipur airport is about 13 km from the old city. Keep your tickets and ID ready. Your Golden Triangle tour ends here, with memories of Mughal monuments, the Taj Mahal and the forts and palaces of Rajasthan.
