1. Day 1 Sasan Gir

   Arrive at your jungle resort.

   Arrive at Sasan Gir, the gateway to Gir National Park, the last home of the Asiatic lion in the wild. Our driver brings you from Rajkot, Junagadh or Diu, and you check in to your wildlife resort set in mango orchards near the forest. Spend the afternoon relaxing, walking in the resort or visiting the Gir Interpretation Zone at Devalia. Listen to the sounds of the forest in the evening. The national park is closed from mid June to mid October. Overnight in Sasan Gir.

2. Day 2 Sasan Gir

   Morning jeep safari in Gir.

   Wake before dawn for a jeep safari in Gir National Park with a trained guide, on a shared basis, when the lions are most active. Besides lions, look for leopards, spotted deer, sambar, nilgai, crocodiles and many birds. Safari permits are limited and must be booked in advance with ID proof, which we arrange. Return to the resort for breakfast and rest in the afternoon. Safari permits are limited and need ID proof, so we book them in advance for you. Carry a warm layer for the early morning. 3. Day 3 Sasan Gir

   Second safari or Devalia park.

   After breakfast, choose a second jeep safari in Gir for better chances of seeing lions, which can be added at extra cost, or visit the Devalia Safari Park, a fenced area of the forest where lions are easier to spot. You may also visit the Kamleshwar Dam, home to marsh crocodiles, or the Kankai Mata temple in the heart of the forest. Relax at the resort in the evening. Gir is closed from mid June to mid October every year. Overnight in Sasan Gir.

4. Day 4 Sasan Gir

   Departure.

   After breakfast, check out of your resort. If time allows, buy the famous Gir kesar mangoes in season, from May to June, or local honey. Our driver then drops you at Rajkot, Junagadh or another nearby point for your onward journey. You may also combine this trip with Somnath, just 45 km away. Please keep your tickets and ID handy for the journey. Your lion safari break in Gir ends here, with memories of the forest and, hopefully, the king of the jungle.
