Day 1 Bangalore
Arrive, Bangalore sights.
Our representative welcomes you at Bangalore airport or railway station and takes you to your hotel. Bangalore, the Garden City, is the capital of Karnataka. After check-in, visit Cubbon Park and Lalbagh Botanical Garden with its Victorian glasshouse, and see the Vidhana Soudha from outside. In the evening, explore MG Road and Brigade Road for shopping and dinner, perhaps a South Indian meal on a banana leaf. Bangalore's mild climate makes it a pleasant city to explore. Overnight in Bangalore.
-
Day 2 Coorg
Srirangapatna, drive to Coorg.
After breakfast, drive to Coorg, also called Kodagu, about 250 km and five to six hours. On the way, stop at Srirangapatna to visit Tipu Sultan's summer palace. Coorg is a hilly district of coffee and spice estates, misty valleys and the Kodava people known for their warm hospitality. Check in to your hotel near Madikeri and enjoy a cup of fresh Coorg coffee. The air turns cooler and greener as you climb into the Western Ghats. Overnight in Coorg.
-
Day 3 Coorg
Abbey Falls, Raja's Seat, Dubare.
A full day in Coorg. Visit Abbey Falls, about 9 km from Madikeri, set among coffee estates, and Raja's Seat, a garden with sunset views over the valleys. See the Omkareshwara temple and the Madikeri Fort. Visit Dubare Elephant Camp on the Kaveri river, where you can watch elephants being bathed in the morning, and the Namdroling Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, a large Tibetan monastery. Try the local Coorgi pandi curry or the bamboo shoot dishes for dinner. Overnight in Coorg.
-
Day 4 Ooty
Mandalpatti views, drive to Ooty.
Early morning, drive by jeep up to Mandalpatti Peak for views above the clouds, at extra cost. Then check out and drive to Ooty, about 230 km and six hours, via Mysore and the forests of Bandipur and Mudumalai. The final climb has 36 hairpin bends, so carry motion sickness tablets. Arrive at Ooty, the Queen of the Nilgiris, by evening. Driving through the forest reserves is not allowed between 9 pm and 6 am, so we leave on time. Overnight in Ooty.
-
Day 5 Ooty
Coonoor, tea estates, rose garden.
A day in the Nilgiri hills. Visit Ooty's Rose Garden on the slopes of Elk Hill, the Botanical Garden and Ooty Lake. Drive to Coonoor, or ride the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri toy train if tickets are available, and see Sim's Park, Dolphin's Nose and the tea estates. Visit a tea factory to see how Nilgiri tea is made. Carry warm clothes for the evening. Try the famous Ooty homemade chocolates and varkey biscuits. The tea estates look best in the soft morning light. Overnight in Ooty.
-
Day 6 Mysore
Drive to Mysore, palace lights.
After breakfast, walk through the Pine Forest and see the Shooting Point at Wenlock Downs, where many films were shot. Then drive to Mysore, about 125 km and four hours. In the evening, visit the Mysore Palace, beautifully lit on Sundays and holidays, and walk through the Devaraja Market for flowers, sandalwood and silk. The Mysore Palace is one of the most visited monuments in India, and its Dussehra festival in October is famous across the country. Overnight in Mysore.
-
Day 7 Bangalore
Drive to Bangalore for departure.
After breakfast, visit Chamundi Hills and the Chamundeshwari temple if time allows, then drive to Bangalore, about 150 km and three to four hours. Our driver drops you at Bangalore airport for your flight home. Allow time for Bangalore's traffic. Pick up Mysore silk, sandalwood soap and Coorg coffee as gifts. The Bangalore highway is good, but traffic builds up near the city, so we leave Mysore with time to spare. Your journey through Coorg, Ooty and Mysore ends here.
